When I signed up for Pursuit Series at Snowbasin, UT, I knew it would be cool, but it didn’t know it would be so freaking cool! It’s is a three-day outdoor event that includes a ton of activities, courses, instructors, music, food, drinks, and FUN! It’s a new first-of-its-kind event hosted by The Outbound Collective and a bunch of top-notch sponsors, including CamelBak, Icebreaker, Smith Optics, Kuju Coffee, Barebones Living, Altra Running, and Trek, among others. This year’s Utah edition returns to Snowbasin June 27-29, and you can still get tickets.
Fair warning, it’s hard on those of us who have FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) because there’s no way you can do all of the things you want to do during the event. Each day of the event is filled with activity options galore from sunrise photography hikes to stargazing and schedules are 100% customizable and easy to plan with the free Pursuit Series app.
Field courses such as, rock climbing, mountain biking, kayaking, trail running, stand-up paddleboarding, slacklining, and fly fishing are led by expert guides and are a great way to dip your toes into something you don’t have much experience with or do more of what you love doing outside.
Additionally, there are unique classes hosted by the event sponsors that you won’t see at any other event, such as Campfire Cocktails Mixology class hosted by Tito’s Handmade Vodka and How to Pack a Backpack hosted by Granite Gear. Each course lasts one to three hours.
Participants can sign up for a one-day pass for any of the days that cost $225 or a three-day pass with camping for $649. For that price, pursuers get meals, drinks (see: open bar), accommodations, courses, entertainment, and a welcome kit that includes $300 worth of gear from the event sponsors. Kuju Coffee sponsors free pour over cold brew coffee all day long!
Somewhere between Smith’s Lowdown Focus Mental Game Improvement Meditation and Night Kayaking with Oru Kayak’s at Pineview Reservoir during the peak of the Perseid Meteor Shower, I realized that this was the best version of adult summer camp I’ve ever experienced and I didn’t want it to ever end.
