July 1, 2020 - July 31, 2020
31 DAYS – 31 FLOWERS
July 1 – 31
Explore Cottonwood Canyons Wildflowers Like Never Before
Every July, for nearly two decades, thousands of alpine flower enthusiasts have attended the four-day Wasatch Wildflower Festival held at Brighton, Solitude, Alta and Snowbird ski resorts. This year, the Cottonwood Canyons Foundation announces the festival will “go virtual” to allow for Covid19’s social distancing mandates and Salt Lake Ranger District’s dispersed recreation guidelines.
“This year’s Wasatch Wildflower Festival free event will offer weekly activities to keep folks connected to the forest and our ski areas through online wildflower videos and maps of wildflower walks to allow participants to identify and photograph the featured flower”, remarks the foundation’s Executive Director, Serena Anderson.
There are two options for participants to upgrade from the free event, making the experience a full month of exciting video content, “Ask a Naturalist” weekly virtual presentations, kids craft projects and even four weekly virtual classes with resort chefs. Serena adds, “We are trying to make this fun, educational and exciting! There will be photo contests and Flower Bingo that will have fabulous prizes donated by the ski areas and our wonderful supporters.”
The festival is near and dear to the Cottonwood Canyons Foundation, as the revenue generated is used to fund their educational programming. Programming supports K-12 field trips and public education.
