Coalville, UT. Perhaps one of the most beautiful routes in northern Utah, this race and grand fondo will take you up the Mirror Lake Highway to an elevation of almost 11,000 feet in the first 35 miles. This is a bucket list climb for every rider. There will be Aspen and Pine forest, beautiful lake and mountain views with smooth road all the way to Evanston. Before the climbing starts is a neutral 6 mile ‘warm-up’ loop down to Francis. Once over the climb there are 50 miles of almost all downhill running into Evanston. On the way back from Evanston the paved road runs out on Yellow Creek Road and there are a few miles of gravel road. This is wide open country with views as far as the eye can see. The pavement returns when Yellow Creek Rd hits Chalk Creek Rd and the fast, fun downhill rollers into Coalville begin. At Coalville the course hits its lowest elevation of a mere 5,600 feet. The way back from Coalville continues with rollers and a slight elevation gain of 800 total feet over 20 miles. The finish is flat and fast. While this course has a long, steady climb at the start, there are enough miles for any type of racer to win.
