From warehouse work to clinics to school districts, there is a wide range of career options and interviews will be conducted right onsite.
Outdoor and Historical Options
Did you know that Tooele County is an excellent hub for outdoor recreation adventures? Here you can go for a bike ride on the Pony Express Trail, sail around the Great Salt Lake, explore the Bonneville Salt Flats, or climb Deseret Peak.
If you want to get in some recreation while attending Taste of Our County, bring your bike and go for a 14-mile flat road ride beginning in the Benson Grist Mill Parking Lot. There’s little elevation gain (just over 200 feet), and the Grist Mill Loop itself has excellent signage that loops you right back to the parking lot when you’re done.
The Benson Grist Mill itself is worthy of exploration. It’s a beautiful outdoor historic site too and has been called the most significant structural landmark between Salt Lake and Reno, Nevada. It’s the only one of its kind remaining west of the Mississippi River and processed grains grown by local farmers from the 1850s-1930s.
Tooele Technical College
Tooele Technical College is proud to partner with the Tooele Chamber to sponsor Taste of Our County. Tooele County is the 7th fastest growing county in the nation, and this technical school emphasizes fast, affordable education for the community.
The governor of Utah has declared 2018 the year of technical education, and Tooele Technical College’s goal is to promote education in these fields and keep more residents working in the local community. By giving them skills to live and work in Tooele County, they’ll be able to find great careers near home instead of commuting to Salt Lake.
During Taste of Our County, Tooele Technical College will have an interactive booth to show off their extensive programming, which focuses on short-term certificate training that typically 9-16 months. Some programs, like CDL licenses, are just 6 weeks.
And while a new career is great, the value is even better. Students can attend Tooele Technical College, leave debt free, and have the skills to build lucrative careers in 2-3 years. They can also use federal financial aid for grants, and with tuition as low as $2 per clock hour, students do not typically need loans. At Tooele Tech, you just register and pay for the number of hours that work for you, on days and at times that work for you. No need to wait for a new semester to start.
