Description

Join Ted Wilson, Head of Utah Gov. Gary Herbert's Balanced Resource Council, to hear him share his interesting experiences as a former Salt Lake City Mayor, environmentalist and mountaineer. Ted Wilson, an avid skier and mountain climber, made many first ascents on climbing routes in Utah, the Tetons, Alaska, the Alps and the Himalaya. He was a climbing ranger in the Grand Teton National Park and has established three climbing schools that are still in operation. In 1967 he received the Department of the Interior Valor award for a mountain rescue on the North Face of the Grand Teton. Elected and served three times as Mayor of Salt Lake from 1976 until July 1985. He was a former Director of the Hinckley Institute of Politics, U. of U., and was the Executive Director of Utah Rivers Council before his appointment by Gov. Gary Herbert to become his senior adviser on environmental matters as head of the Balanced Resource Council. This presentation is sponsored by the Alta Historical Society.
