Join Alexis Kelner, Utah ski historian and modern pioneer of backcountry skiing in the Wasatch, for his presentation of the early development of and history of backcountry skiing huts in the Wasatch. His talk is for all ages, approximately 45 minutes long with a slide presentation followed by a question/answer period after the talk. Alexis is the author of Skiing in Utah, a History and co-author with David Hanscom of some of the first backcountry skiing guides, Wasatch Tours, volumes I, II and III. An avid conservationist, he is committed to protecting Utahs mountains and wilderness. Alexis has a keen knowledge of the Wastach Mountains and brings a unique perspective of skiing in Utah as well as its history. He is one of the founders of Save Our Canyons and has been on the board and an active member of the Wasatch Mountain Club.
